Ahmed Mahiyan
Ahmed Mahiyan is the founder of FIRE Financial, a firm established in 2022 to provide independent and unbiased financial advice to Canadians. Driven by a passion for ethical financial guidance, Ahmed transitioned from traditional banking roles at major Canadian banks, where he recognized a need for client-centered advice, free from sales pressures.
Ahmed specializes in serving two often-underserved groups: families with disabilities and regular pre-retirees. Drawing from personal experience and professional dedication, he has cultivated deep expertise in disability financial planning and retirement planning. Ahmed understands the unique challenges these groups face and is committed to providing tailored solutions to help them achieve financial security and peace of mind.
To deliver fiduciary financial and investment advice, Ahmed is an Associate Advising Representative (Portfolio Manager) and Financial Planner at Nextgen Financial Planning Inc., a registered Portfolio Manager across Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, and Quebec. Through this partnership, FIRE Financial offers comprehensive financial planning and investment management services, including options for clients who prefer to manage portfolios at their existing financial institutions. Ahmed's specializations at Nextgen include US/Canada cross-border financial planning, serving DIY investors, and designing Group Plans.
Beyond his practice, Ahmed is passionate about financial education. He has shared his expertise as a part-time professor at Seneca College's School of Accounting and Financial Services, earning the moniker "Professor" from his former bank colleagues for his ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly.
Ahmed's strong academic foundation includes a master’s degree in finance and a bachelor’s degree in economics. He further solidified his expertise by earning prestigious professional designations: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Market Technician (CMT), and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) in both Canada and the US. He previously held Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Personal Financial Planner (PFP) designations as well.
Committed to giving back, Ahmed volunteers as a financial planner with the Financial Planning Association of Canada (FPAC) pro-bono initiative, providing free financial guidance to those in need. He also actively shares financial knowledge within the Bangladeshi community through educational content and webinars.
Based in Toronto, Ontario, Ahmed stays informed by closely following the North American stock market. Outside of finance, he enjoys creating content for his YouTube channels, watching Formula 1, and following cricket.

As an Associate at FIRE Financial, he specializes in crafting personalized financial strategies tailored to each client's unique needs and aspirations. Prior to joining FIRE Financial, Jahid honed his expertise at Shanta Asset Management in Bangladesh, a leading asset management firm, where he focused on investment planning and advisory, consistently delivering practical advice and strong results. His career began as an equity research analyst, developing a strong foundation in market analysis and investment strategies.
Jahid earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2019, a globally recognized standard of excellence in the investment profession. Demonstrating his commitment to continuous learning and expanding his advisory capabilities, he earned his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation in 2024. At FIRE Financial, Jahid leverages his expertise to develop comprehensive financial plans and is dedicated to ensuring every client receives personalized, unbiased, and effective financial advice.
Further enhancing his financial acumen, Jahid is pursuing an MBA in Finance at the University of Calgary, building upon his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Dhaka. Karar Tasmia brings over seven years of dedicated customer service experience to FIRE Financial, ensuring seamless and positive client experience. Her background includes leadership roles at Best Buy Canada, where she honed her skills in customer service operations, team leadership, and retail sales management. As a Customer Manager at Grameenphone, Karar excelled at resolving customer concerns and building strong client relationships.
Beyond her extensive customer service background, Karar is a licensed Mortgage Agent, equipped to assist with your mortgage needs. She also holds a Diploma in Immigration Law, Policies and Procedures from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and an undergraduate degree in Economics, demonstrating a diverse skillset and commitment to knowledge.
